Adding Patience to Faith . . . The Process of Faith (part 2b)

Adding Patience to Faith . . . The Process of Faith (part 2b)

~ This blog post is an adapted excerpt from a sermon by Peter DeWitt.  You can hear the whole sermon, The Process of Faith (part 2),  from Agathos Church – a non-denominational Christian Church in Columbus, Ohio by clicking here.

So far, our equation for faith has been:

His Promises + Our Position in Him = Faith

Notice that this equation does not actually end with “Possession of the Promises,” which is our goal!  In other words, faith is actually a mechanism – a means to an end.  So, knowing His promises, knowing that ALL the promises are for you, clarifying your target, and speaking your faith all work together to release your faith . . .

BUT . . . faith does not always cause immediate possession of the promises.

Now, if, after releasing your faith, you experience immediate possession of His promises, praise God and do it again!  But, at times, if you have released your faith and not experienced an immediate manifestation of God’s Promise, KEEP READING :)  This message is for you!

What do you do when it seems like your faith has not come through?

To answer that question, let’s add to the faith equation a bit:  what does the Bible say you need to mix with your faith in order to inherit the promises?

Faith + ________ = Possession (inheritance of the promises)?

Take a look at (Hebrews 6:11-12)  “And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope until the end, that you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.”  So what, when mixed with faith, causes us to inherit promises?

Faith + PATIENCE = Possession (inheritance of the promises)!
