A Picture of our Spiritual House

A Picture of our Spiritual House

For about 3 years, Pastor Brad’s primary message has been the foundation we have in Christ. We are God’s building and there is a foundation to that building.  The foundation is Christ. Christ as the Living Stone, and we also as living stones are being built up as a spiritual house.  (see 1 Pe 2:4-5)

Take note that God refers to two parts of the house. The foundation AND the rest of the house. The foundation of our spiritual houses was built by Jesus! God was the architect or general contractor. Jesus was the hands-on contractor that built the foundation of our spiritual house. He built the foundation of our relationship with Him.  The foundation is complete! It is done – for all of eternity. It cannot be un-built.  Jesus stands guard of His Work.  There is nothing you and I can do to undue the foundation – INCLUDING DISOBEDIENCE or living in sin.

Our actions CANNOT undue what Jesus has built in our life. It was not our actions that built the foundation. It was His actions alone that built the foundation, so our actions cannot now unbuild it. That is why each block in the diagram below says “in Christ.” Every block of our foundation was put in place by Jesus Himself! He laid our foundation. We did not. Since it was not our actions that built the foundation, then our actions cannot unbuild it!

Note that the wording over all of the foundation is “In Right Standing.” The foundation that Jesus built for us puts us in right standing with the Father!  Everything that we’ve talked about up until now has been dealing with the foundation. But there is more to the story! And that’s where we are going now . . .
